On Tuesday 14th November, Primus visited the National Maritime Museum to further their knowledge on the transatlantic slave trade.
The children got to handle artefacts to help them investigate the experience of transported slaves as part of our topic of learning about the abolition of slavery. We also explored the galleries and the children were particularly excited about seeing the jacket Nelson wore at Trafalgar.
“Seeing real artefacts and being so close to original documents was an experience that I will not forget. We learned about West African culture and how it changed due to the slave trade.” – Flora, Primus
