Concert with The Basin Street Brawlers
Yesterday, the Trevor-Roberts choirs presented their spring fundraising concert at St. Mary’s Church in Primrose Hill. They were joined by The Basin Street Brawlers, a five-piece jazz ensemble famous for playing the swinging songs of the 1920s and 30s.
The Senior and Chamber Choirs sang a selection of hymns and spirituals. Ex-students, ex-teachers, current teachers, parents and grandparents of students also joined in! There was a performance from the Junior Choir too, who very much enjoyed sharing two songs they’ve been rehearsing every week.
The concert raised money for the National Literacy Trust’s ‘Libraries for Primaries’ programme, a fantastic charity that campaigns for child literacy and dedicated library spaces in primary schools.
‘Singing at the concert was so much fun. My favourite song to sing was Bring Me Sunshine! I really liked hearing the band play, especially the trumpet player because I am learning the trumpet too!’ – Sammy, Sextus
