Sextus Belsize Community Library visit

Published On: February 20th, 2024

On Tuesday 20th February Sextus visited the Belsize Community Library to learn how books can be categorised by genre. The pupils used contextual clues from the cover and blurb to determine how to classify thir chisen, recording their findings in a table.

‘Yesterday we went to Belsize library. It was lots of fun because I found some new books to read, like Dog Man. Often I could work out the genre from the picture on the front, however some books didn’t have any pictures so I read the blurb instead. I know lots more genre names now like fantasy, science fiction and thriller. There was a piano too, which we got to play some songs on.’ – Solal, Sextus
