On Thursday 23rd November Quartus and Tertius travelled to Canterbury, following in the footsteps of pilgrims past and present to visit the city’s magnificent cathedral.
The children built upon their already extensive knowledge of Thomas Becket’s martyrdom through immersive storytelling, acting out the fabled narrative in costume inside the cathedral walls. Following an in depth tour, the children proceeded to create artworks in the form of badges and certificates inspired by their experience.
‘It was really fun to dress up as a pilgrim and act out the story, especially when we crawled up the Pilgrims’ steps.’ – Olivia, Quartus
‘The cathedral was so beautiful, the ceiling looked like the branches of an enormous tree. It was so interesting to learn that on the Black Prince’s tomb statue, the animal his feet were resting on was a leopard!’ -Lydia, Quartus
